Reporters from Southern Weekly went on strike over the censorship policies in Guangdong province.
The action took place after the provincial censors first shut down a website that called for defense of individual rights, citing China’s constitution. Then an SW editorial was changed from one that echoed the website’s position to one of praise for the Communist Party.
