What a surprise! (Notice the sarcastic tone?)
Google is now investigating the possibility that the hacks against itself, g-mail accounts of journalists and dissidents and other companies may have been helped out by people who work for Google in China.
When we lived in China we just assumed that everyone was under pressure to provide any and all information about us to the national security forces. Governments such as China’s depend on snitches everywhere.
Spying inside companies got harder as the government eased the rules on employment — in the past foreign entities took who ever the government sent. For the past 10 years or so people are free to find their own jobs. But that does not release them from pressure against them (or their families) to deliver reports to the government.
